Learn the basics of fine woodworking with the use of common hand and power tools. We will be covering general and tool specific safety, while learning how to make a basic lift top box. We will discuss how a tree grows, the various physical properties of wood, and how that affects the use of the wood in woodworking projects. We will also briefly cover the different types of milled lumber, methods of drying, moisture content, and other aspects of wood. Designed for novice and intermediate woodworkers to gain a greater understanding of the material they are using, while learning the safe and proper way to produce attractive and complete pieces.
Instructor is Christopher London, Scientific Research Specialist and Woodworking Instructor at UMO’s School of Forest Resources.
A materials fee of $20 is to be paid directly to the instructor.
